€6.6bn recapitalisation of Portuguese banks
Rothschild has acted as the sole financial adviser to the Portuguese Ministry of Finance on the injection of €6.6 billion of core tier 1 capital into three major Portuguese banks.
Rothschild provided advice in relation to the design and implementation of the recapitalisation scheme.
Rothschild has been involved in a number of landmark transactions in Portugal during the past 20 years. Most recently the firm advised Energias de Portugal SA (EDP) on the €2.7 billion sale of a 21.35% stake by the Portuguese state and its Strategic Partnership with the acquirer China Three Gorges.
